3/6 Petition to Biden & U.S. Congress

I don’t know how much more dystopian this has to get before you wake up and do the right thing. Yesterday, 3/5, Euro-Med Human Rights Monitor’s Advocacy Officer, Ahmed al-Naouq, made a statement at the UN Human Rights Council’s 55th session that, “I sat before you some months ago representing Euro-Med Monitor to speak for victims of human rights abuses in the Middle East. But today, I sit before you representing myself, as I AM the victim.” His entire family that lived in Gaza have all been murdered by Israel as part of their genocidal ethnic cleansing campaign.

I recommend you read and reflect on his entire statement, but for the sake of word count with this letter, Al-Naouq went on to say, “My family’s tragedy is but a microcosm of the horror inflicted upon imprisoned population of Gaza. Over 35,000 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli aggression, with a staggering 92% being civilians and 70% of them women and children. For four months, Israel has perpetrated a litany of crimes against my people: starvation, the targeting of journalists, the systematic destruction of our medical infrastructure, the erasure of our educational institutions and more.”

Tell me why 10 year old Yazan al-Kafarneh had to die yesterday, 3/5. He was starved to death by Israel. Look at the images of him before his passing – he was skin and bones. Yazan died in his mother’s arms, weighing only 11 pounds, in utter agony. He had cerebral palsy and his medical condition deteriorated rapidly after months of forced displacement, lack of healthcare, and lack of appropriate food. Did your airdrops include medical food? Formula? Water? Medication? You are the reason Yazan is dead. I hope you’re proud of yourself.

I demand that you: 

– Call for an immediate and permanent ceasefire

– Call for the immediate end of Israel’s occupation and apartheid and support Palestinians in their fight for freedom and peace

– Hold Israel accountable for their violations of the Genocide Convention and all other international laws by any means necessary

– Permanently end all monetary, diplomatic, and military aid given to Israel and enforce Leahy Law

– Reallocate all funds given to Israel and commit additional resources for ongoing humanitarian relief for Palestinians starting with immediately resume funding of UNRWA

– Immediately withdraw all U.S. troops, military assets, and all other assets deployed throughout the Middle East and cease all actions that further escalate a larger regional conflict
