3/31 Petition to Biden & U.S. Congress

Today, 3/31, Israel intentionally bombed the tents of journalists and other displaced people outside of the Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital – another war crime of how many now? It’s been nearly impossible to keep track of, and that’s just those Israel has committed since 10/7.

While Israel’s genocidal forces are on the ground massacring Palestinians, you and the rest of my government continue all efforts to support, aid, and provide diplomatic cover for their crimes. I truly do not understand the level of callousness, cruelty, and abject disregard for human life you’ve displayed in continuing to supply Israel with weapons, and cripple the largest humanitarian agency, UNRWA, desperately trying to save people from being starved to death.

On 3/29, yet another State Department employee involved in the Bureau of Democracy, Human Rights and Labor, which helps to implement Leahy law and other U.S. law governing arms transfers to other countries, has resigned. The resignation of Josh Paul back in October, a senior Bureau of Political-Military Affairs official, should have been the sound of alarm for you. People in our government whose job it is to ensure we are not complicit in gross human rights violations left because it is clear that the current administration in place is not heeding domestic and international court guidance.

I demand that you: 

– Call for an immediate and permanent ceasefire

– Call for the immediate end of Israel’s occupation and apartheid and support Palestinians in their fight for freedom and peace

– Hold Israel accountable for their violations of the Genocide Convention and all other international laws by any means necessary

– Secure the immediate release and safety of all Palestinians who have been abducted and held captive by Israel, including those whose indefinite detention began prior to 10/7

– Permanently end all monetary, diplomatic, and military aid given to Israel and enforce Leahy Law

– Reallocate all funds given to Israel and commit additional resources for ongoing humanitarian relief for Palestinians starting with immediately resuming funding of UNRWA

– Immediately withdraw all U.S. troops, military assets, and all other assets deployed throughout the Middle East and cease all actions that further escalate a larger regional conflict

– Pass legislation that voids all anti-BDS laws at the federal level

– Vote no on H.R. 7521
