9/8 Petition to Biden & U.S. Congress

Every single day we are witness Israel commit massacres in Gaza and throughout occupied-Palestine. In the past 24 hours today, 9/8, 33 have been murdered and over 145 wounded in just Gaza. The violence across the West Bank has only been escalating, completely without consequence from this administration. Since 10/7, Israeli military forces and settler-colonists have murdered approximately 662 Palestinians in the West Bank.

It’s easy to keep seeing these numbers and forget the individual lives behind the tragic, rising number of casualties. Every single person whose died today in Gaza, all 33 were real people with families- they had hopes, dreams, and wanted to live. Their deaths are not quick and painless, either – often if done at close range, it is sadistically carried out. I can’t get the story a Palestinian father shared earlier today about how he was forced to witness Israeli forces burn his disabled daughter alive in a school housing refugees in northern Gaza. She could not walk. Her father said, “They burned the tents. They burned the people. I even had a daughter—yes, they burned her, truly. They burned her alive. She’s disabled. They burned and bulldozed and destroyed.”

Every day this administration does nothing, tragedies like this are unfolding every moment. This cannot be allowed to continue.

I demand you do everything in your power to:

– Hold Israel accountable to a permanent, immediate ceasefire and for their repeat violations of international law

– Call for the immediate end of Israel’s occupation and apartheid

– Support Palestinians in their fight for freedom and peace

– Secure the immediate release and safety of all hostages, including Palestinians held by Israel in “military prisons”, including those whose indefinite detention began prior to 10/7

– Permanently end all monetary, diplomatic, and military aid given to Israel and enforce U.S. laws like Leahy Law and the Arms Export Control Act

– Resume full funding of UNRWA and allocate more funds to aid humanitarian efforts to rebuild Gaza, and provide Palestinians with the resources to survive and thrive

– Immediately withdraw all U.S. troops, military assets, and all other assets deployed throughout the Middle East and cease all actions that further escalate a larger regional conflict

– Void all anti-BDS laws and other laws that infringe on my right to freedom of speech to criticize any political ideology or country, and to use my money in ways that align with my values

While Telegram channels on their own are not necessarily credible news reporting, I have found the work Praxis Redacted has done consolidating both official news sources and unofficial citizen reporting (before it becomes breaking news) to be credible, accurate, and substantiated hours or sometimes days later by mainstream news.

Since mid-October when I began following the news about the genocide (and Praxis Redacted), I have not found an incident where sources cited or descriptions used were later proved to be false. I have every reason to believe the events cited below are true.

All of the same disclaimers apply for content warnings and my belief in the credibility of the channels cited.
