4/15 Petition to Biden & U.S. Congress

On 1/31/24, a U.S. federal court judge found that Israel is plausibly committing a genocide in the Defense for Children International – Palestine v. Biden, Blinken, & Austin case. This came only days after when on 1/26/24 the International Court of Justice also found that Israel is plausibly committing a genocide. On 10/17/24, Josh Paul, the former Director of the Bureau of Political-Military Affairs at the State Department resigned due to concerns that the U.S. arms transfers to Israel would be used to commit gross human rights abuses, lead to significant civilian casualties, and the policies in place to prevent these circumstances from occurring were not being followed for Israel. His declaration of support filed in the Defense for Children International – Palestine v. Biden case describes multiple incidents he witnessed of Leahy vetting policy being ignored in prior, credible allegations of Israel committing gross human rights violations.

Josh Paul knows when policy isn’t being followed – he had a significant role in policymaking for U.S. arms transfers and drafted the Conventional Arms Transfer (CAT) Policy. He was also detailed on a part-time basis in the State Department’s Bureau of Democracy, Human Rights, and Labor, Office of Security and Human Rights as a Special Advisor on U.S. arms transfers where he assessed existing processes for human rights reviews for arms transfers and made recommendations to improve the Department of State’s processes.

On 3/27/24, Annelle Sheline, a foreign affairs officer at the Office of Near Eastern Affairs in the Department of State’s Bureau of Democracy, Human Rights and Labor resigned due to our government enabling Israel’s actions after the ICJ’s ruling that Israel is plausibly committing a genocide. She was deeply and understandably perturbed that when she raised concerns about the intentional murder, attacks, and abduction of Palestinian journalists by Israel, the highest number of journalists who have been murdered in any single conflict since the Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ) began recording data in 1992, she was ignored. She decided to resign publicly when her colleagues begged her to speak out publicly, saying “Please speak for us.”

U.S. law is not being followed and you are letting this administration literally get away with murder, and participating by your lack of meaningful action. I know you don’t care about Palestinian lives, but how can you flagrantly disregard the rule of law of our nation?

I demand that you:

– Hold Israel accountable for a permanent, immediate ceasefire, their violations of the Genocide Convention, and gross human rights violations by any means necessary

– Permanently end all monetary, diplomatic, and military aid given to Israel and enforce Leahy Law

– Reallocate all funds given to Israel and commit additional resources for ongoing humanitarian relief for Palestinians starting with immediately resuming funding of UNRWA

3/1 Petition to Biden & U.S. Congress

While children like Ahmad are indefinitely detained in military prison death camps and subjected to the torture of solitary confinement to be interrogated for over a month, or Bashar Nihad Abdulatif Hanani who was executed via a gun shot to the back of the head in the West Bank, Israeli terrorists block humanitarian aid. The excuses for this ethnic cleansing genocidal campaign are thin to nonexistent.

Before Bashar succumbed to his injuries, the EMS brought him to a medical facility and the IDF soldiers responsible followed. From the eyewitness accounts “One paramedic, fearing arrest, said that Bashar fell from the wall. One soldier replied in English, “We are the ones who shot him,” and left.”” Ahmad was threatened before being released if he did anything they would add months or years to his detention.

The backdrop for these horrors is the recent U.S. federal judge ruling that Israel is plausibly committing a genocide in the Defense for Children International v. Biden court case. If a statement from our own courts does not qualify has credible information under Leahy law vetting policy, then I don’t know what would. It should have been enough when senior DoS official Josh Paul who served as the Director in the Bureau of Political-Military Affairs, which is responsible for U.S. defense diplomacy, security assistance, and arms transfers resigned due to credible concerns Leahy vetting policy and other laws governing foreign assistance to forces committing human rights violations were not being followed for Israel.

Leahy vetting policy only requires one credible report for a foreign force to be ineligible for military assistance and funding. Those responsible for creating and implementing Leahy vetting policy are the ones who’d be held accountable if the law was broken – Biden, Blinken, and Austin. There is no accountability when our own laws are being broken.

Yesterday, on 3/1, a group of Israeli terrorists from the Nachala settlement organization “broke through” into Gaza where they began constructing small buildings. They even named the “settlement” – New Nisanit. The IDF didn’t interfere until after the terrorists had constructed these makeshift buildings. Why does this matter exactly? Well, Israel’s Absentees’ property law allows for settler-colonists to take land and property. This law was made early in Israel’s founding and was used to justify the ethnic cleansing that took place prior to and after the 1948 Nakba. All that’s required is a “claim” – the makeshift buildings – and settlers can petition their government for ownership.

Their plans have been clear from the beginning from the mouths of their people and government that their intention has always been to ethnically cleanse Gaza and take the land, just as they continue to do in the West Bank. This is abhorrent, unconscionable, and disgusting. Do the right thing. Start with calling for a ceasefire and enforcing Leahy law.

2/17 Petition to Biden & U.S. Congress

Yesterday on 2/16, the ICJ stated that the recent acceleration of attacks on Rafah in particular, “would exponentially increase what is already a humanitarian
nightmare with untold regional consequences”. The court further advised that “this perilous situation demands immediate and effective implementation of the
provisional measures”. Meanwhile, you have continued to steal from the American people to provide money and weapons for Israel to finish their genocidal ethnic cleansing campaign. Biden, Blinken, and Llyod’s U.S. court case for genocide complicity may have been dismissed, but it wasn’t for lack of proof. The court found that Israel’s actions plausibly constitute genocide and advised the Biden administration to re-examine policies towards Israel. I hope the plaintiff’s win their appeal against dismissal.

This statement from our own courts stating that Israel is likely committing a genocide is more than credible evidence under Leahy law which calls for the immediate suspension of miliary aid in the form of money, weapons, or training. Every moment you do nothing, you are breaking our own laws against providing foreign forces support when they’ve plausibly committed gross human rights violations. I will advocate for criminal charges to be brought against you and the rest of the administration that is involved. I know that Congress is equally liable under Leahy law.

I demand that you:

– Call for an immediate and permanent ceasefire

– Call for the immediate end of Israel’s occupation and apartheid and support Palestinians in their fight for freedom and peace

– Hold Israel accountable for their violations of the Genocide Convention and all other international laws by any means necessary

– Secure the immediate release and safety of all Palestinians who have been abducted and held captive by Israel, including those whose indefinite detention began prior to 10/7

– Permanently end all monetary, diplomatic, and military aid given to Israel and enforce Leahy Law

– Reallocate all funds given to Israel and commit additional resources for ongoing humanitarian relief for Palestinians starting with immediately resume funding of UNRWA

– Immediately withdraw all U.S. troops, military assets, and all other assets deployed throughout the Middle East and cease all actions that further escalate a larger regional conflict

– Pass legislation that voids all anti-BDS laws at the federal level

– Restore my right to free speech and the freedom of the press by condemning all discrimination or harassment for criticizing any government or political ideology (including zionism) and by doing everything possible to prevent future assaults to my rights, including governmental control and/or censorship of the Internet

I, along with so many other Americans, have been closely watching the ICJ proceedings regarding Israel’s genocide of Palestinians. We’re all also following the Defense for Children International-Palestine v. Biden, Blinken & Lloyd court case ongoing in our own courts. The fact you continue to do nothing every single day only furthers the case for your own complicity. Do the right thing right now.

I demand that you:

– Call for an immediate and permanent ceasefire in Gaza, the West Bank, and all areas the Israeli military is murdering or otherwise violating the human rights of Palestinians

– Call for the immediate end of genocide, apartheid, and occupation, and support Palestinians in their fight for freedom, peace, and their human rights

– Call for the immediate release of Palestinian “prisoners” (hostages) held captive in Israeli military prisons

– Permanently end all monetary and military aid given to Israel by correcting our budget and enforcing Leahy Law

– Reallocate all funds given to Israel to ongoing humanitarian relief for Palestinians to help them rebuild, care for the sick & injured, bury the dead with dignity, and ensure all of their basic needs are taken care of

– Repeal all federal anti-BDS laws and pass legislation that voids all state-level anti-BDS laws

– Restore my right to free speech and the freedom of the press by condemning all discrimination or harassment for criticizing any government or political ideology (including zionism) and by doing everything possible to prevent future assaults to my rights, including governmental control and/or censorship of the Internet

– Stop the militarization of our police by ending all cross-training done with the Israeli military, ceasing the construction of the Atlanta Public Safety Training Center, and all other ways this is accomplished

1/9 Petition to Biden & U.S. Congress

Secretary of State Antony Blinken’s recent trip to Israel has already proved to be absolutely useless. Raising the “absolute imperative” for Israel to do more to protect Palestinian civilians and allow humanitarian aid in is completely insufficient. How many times has the world nicely asked for this? We’re approaching day 100 of this genocide, and the best our country can do is send the same man who is being sued in our courts for aiding and abetting the genocide?

As of 1/9, 23,200 – 36,600 Palestinians have been murdered in Gaza since 10/7. Just in the last 24 hours during Blinken’s visit, 126 Palestinians had been killed and 241 wounded by Israel. Every day you and the rest of my government do nothing, the unspeakable acts of this genocide continue. This is Blinken’s fault for violating Leahy law and other laws meant to keep the U.S. from complicity in acts of human rights violations. This is your fault for doing absolutely nothing. Change that today.

I demand that you:

– Call for an immediate and permanent ceasefire in Gaza, the West Bank, and all areas the Israeli military is murdering or otherwise violating the human rights of Palestinians

– Call for the immediate end of genocide, apartheid, and occupation, and support Palestinians in their fight for freedom, peace, and their human rights

– Call for the immediate release of Palestinian “prisoners” (hostages) held captive in Israeli military prisons

– Permanently end all monetary and military aid given to Israel by correcting our budget and enforcing Leahy Law

– Reallocate all funds given to Israel to ongoing humanitarian relief for Palestinians to help them rebuild, care for the sick & injured, bury the dead with dignity, and ensure all of their basic needs are taken care of

– Repeal all federal anti-BDS laws and pass legislation that voids all state-level anti-BDS laws

– Restore my right to free speech and the freedom of the press by condemning all discrimination or harassment for criticizing any government or political ideology (including zionism) and by doing everything possible to prevent future assaults to my rights, including governmental control and/or censorship of the Internet

– Stop the militarization of our police by ending all cross-training done with the Israeli military, ceasing the construction of the Atlanta Public Safety Training Center, and all other ways this is accomplished

– Pass legislation that prohibits any governmental action that would target any ethnic, religious, or other minority group (including Palestinians), either in the U.S. or abroad, by restricting humanitarian or financial aid, infringing on their human rights, or other actions that would otherwise bring harm or cause undue burdens on said groups

Al Jazeera quotes 23,210 dead as of 1/9/24. Al Jazeera always includes the most up-to-date official death tolls on their Breaking/live updates page. Because the daily live pages are refreshed so frequently for each new day, I can’t link you to a specific date. You can always check the Breaking/live section on their site for the most recent official numbers.

EuroMed Monitor quotes an estimated 30,676 dead shown on an infographic posted on their Instagram (link to post) as of 1/4/24. Their website has past infographics, but does not currently have this newest one included as of writing this blog post. This is not unusual- I believe they first post on social media and then add to the infographic section of their site later. Prior infographics posted on Instagram and then shown on their site have the exact same figures & data.

Associated Press “Gaza health officials say they lost the ability to count dead as Israeli offensive intensifies“

The situation in Gaza has only gotten worse since the AP published this article on 11/21. The official numbers we are seeing from Gaza’s Ministry of Health are undercounted, and have been since at least 11/21.

EuroMed Monitor is a NGO established in 2011 that advocates for the human rights of all persons across Europe and the MENA region. They have a regional office in the Palestinian Occupied Territories. I believe their estimates are credible which is why I quote them, and will continue to, when referring to the estimated death toll.

My personal opinion is that the true number is even higher than estimated- people are dying from starvation, thirst, infections, and illnesses. Even if the genocide ended this moment, these types of deaths will unfortunately continue for some time. I believe their deaths should be counted. They may not have been shot/bombed/etc. by the Israeli military, but their deaths are directly attributable to the total siege, occupation, and intentional** destruction of civilian, water, waste management, and medical infrastructure by Israel.

**Why are you accusing Israel of intentionally destroying important infrastructure and targeting civilians?

It’s not an accusation. They’ve admitted to it.

1/8 Petition to Biden

You’ve lost my vote forever. I’ve said it before, but I want to remind you again- you will not win re-election. I will never forget what you’ve done and continue to do. You’re the only president in our entire country’s history that’s being sued in United States courts for genocide. The Defense for Children International-Palestine v. Biden case will be one for the history books. Whatever legacy you think you’re leaving behind will be forever marred and contextualized by this genocide.

Your court case isn’t looking great – the fact that the best your lawyers can do is focus on technicalities and claims that United States courts cannot review your policies is laughable. The request to the court to dismiss the case doesn’t even contest that Israel is committing a genocide and you, Blinken, and Austin are complicit. The volume of friend of the court briefs submitted in opposition to dismiss is staggering – from legal experts, genocide scholars, human and civil rights groups, medical professionals, journalists, and more have all taken the time to add their expertise in support of the plaintiffs. If there is any justice left in the world, you Blinken, and Austin will be charged for the multiple violations of our own laws, including Leahy law.

I will make sure that every single person that I know is aware of your case. I have been and will continue to actively work against your re-election. The Democratic Party’s platform of fear-mongering is finished. The American people see through the lies – you are just as corrupt, compromised, and useless as the Republican Party. Your administration is the same fascism and degradation of our country the same as Trump’s, just in a different outfit.

Whatever you hoped to gain by your continued material support of, diplomatic cover for, and lies on behalf of Israel isn’t going to be realized. Your image will never recover from this. You’ve already gotten your moniker – Genocide Joe. It’ll be written in the history books underneath the section detailing how the Defense for Children International-Palestine v. Biden court case revealed the true, depraved depths of complicity of your administration in the barbaric genocide of Palestinians.

I have no faith you’ll do it, and it should go without saying at this point, but – CALL FOR A CEASEFIRE RIGHT NOW.

12/29 Petition to Biden & U.S. Congress

The evidence of the gross human rights violations Israel is committing against Palestinians, and the aiding and abetting of this genocide by my government only grows every single day. After reading through the plaintiffs’ statements from the Defense for Children International-Palestine v. Biden ongoing court case, my heart only breaks further. I’ve been right every time I’ve told you that Leahy law is being violated.

Josh Paul, a high-level, former DoS official who has a multitude of experience in the DoS as an overseer of international arms transfers and human rights abuse allegations, has made it clear that our government is failing to follow the due diligence required by our own laws, and has actively insulated Israel from accountability. Paul resigned on 10/20 because he has every reason to believe that the U.S. arms transfers to Israel would be used to commit gross human rights abuses, lead to significant civilian casualties, and the policies in place to prevent these circumstances from occurring were not being followed. In addition to Leahy law, my government is also violating the Foreign Assitance Act, Arms Export Control Act, and the Conventional Arms Transfer Policy.

Most notably, Paul describes how the Israeli government terrorized and stole evidence from an NGO reporting the heinous sexual assault of a Palestinian child by Israeli police. When the U.S. requested information from Israel on these allegations, proof of the believed credibility, the very next day Israel raided the NGO and stole their electronic devices. While horrifying, this is not new behavior. CIRIGHTS recent scoring of Israel’s compliance with human rights shows the worst possible score for allowing human rights groups to operate due to violence, shutdown of operations, and laws that block NGO access.

The statements from plaintiffs’ has been difficult to read. You should read them yourself, but here are some notable excerpts: “members and staff of Al-Haq in Gaza have been subjected to increased indiscriminate bombing and displacement…It is the first time in the 44-year history of Al-Haq, that we have been unable to conduct field investigations due to the intensity and scale of the hostilities [of Israel]”. “We are seeing enormous amounts of children with severe dehydration, febrile convulsions…. There are no oral rehydration salts in the Gaza strip”

“[my family is] just barely surviving: the most people can hope for is clean water and some food. Medications have become a luxury”. “in the U.S. I am experiencing an immense and unfathomable fear and uncertainty for my loved ones…I feel like I am experiencing an emotional genocide…I don’t sleep at night…we as a people are being subjected to a form of psychological torture.” “my taxpayer dollars are paying for the bombs being dropped on my family…my children keep asking me questions. How am I supposed to explain a genocide against their people to them?”

I demand you call for a ceasefire right now.
