5/18 Petition to Biden & U.S. Congress

“You may choose to look the other way, but you can never say again that you did not know.” A powerful quote by William Wilberforce, speaking truth to power as an abolitionist, is more than relevant on this administration’s policy on Israel’s genocide. You are beyond aware of the inhumane, barbaric conditions that Israel has intentionally created in Gaza and in the rest of occupied-Palestine. I’ve read the recent 5/7 open letter to this administration and Attorney General Merrick Garland from legal and policy staff at over two dozen U.S. federal agencies clearly stating that to continue to provide Israel weapons and other forms of military assistance is a violation of domestic and international law. The recently opened “aid pier” is woefully insufficient to stop Israel’s man-made famine from annihilating Palestinians in Gaza. This pier does not end your complicity and participation in Israel’s war crimes, either.

I will never forget what 10 year old Yazan Kafarneh looked like at the end of his short life – painfully skeletal, greying skin – his small body only weighed 11lbs. Those with cerebral palsy require a very specific diet in order to survive. He was among the first of those murdered by Israel’s manufactured famine. When Kamal Adwan Hospital was more functional and had more resources to try and treat starvation back in March, they reported high infant mortality rates, the youngest at the time- Mohammed al-Zaygh, 45 days old, and Heba Ziyadah, only several days younger than Mohammed.

As college students across this country have peacefully protested and have been accused of everything from being stupid, taken over by outside agitators, or somehow Hamas, the real “outside agitators” have been further revealed. Washington Post recently reported on the shady Whatsapp group of billionaires and business executives who discussed how to “change the narrative” and how best to suppress student protestors at Columbia University. They spoke with New York mayor Eric Adams to urge him to deploy an unnecessary show of force from the police, and offered to donate to Adams and pay for private investigators to assist the police in “managing protestors”, which Adams accepted. These outside agitators include former Starbucks CEO Howard Schultz, Dell founder and CEO Michael Dell, billionaire hedge fund manager Bill Ackman, investor Joshua Kushner, Kind snack company founder Daniel Lubetzky, hedge fund executive Daniel Loeb, billionaire Len Blavatnik, and real estate investor Joseph Sitt. This is only a snapshot of the participants.

I demand that you: 

– Hold Israel accountable for a permanent, immediate ceasefire, their violations of the Genocide Convention, and gross human rights violations by any means necessary

– Secure the immediate release and safety of all Palestinians who have been abducted and held captive by Israel, including those whose indefinite detention began prior to 10/7

While Telegram channels on their own are not necessarily credible news reporting, I have found the work Praxis Redacted has done consolidating both official news sources and unofficial citizen reporting (before it becomes breaking news) to be credible, accurate, and substantiated hours or sometimes days later by mainstream news.

Since mid-October when I began following the news about the genocide (and Praxis Redacted), I have not found an incident where sources cited or descriptions used were later proved to be false. I have every reason to believe the events cited below are true.

Most Telegram posts I link will be from Praxis Redacted, but those that are not will be labeled. All of the same disclaimers apply for content warnings and my belief in the credibility of the channels cited. This is a saved text template used across posts, it’s possible no sources outside of Praxis Redacted will be used or that only other channels are cited in this petition.
